On Hvar Island, emergency medical transport are mostly carried out by helicopter. Some divers could be interested to know that the helicopter landing zone is only 5 minutes drive from Viking Diving Center and it takes 10-15 minutes for the helicopter to reach the hospital in Split, a part of which is The Institute for Hyperbaric Medicine, equipped by modern decompression chambers and highly professional and experienced specialist doctors.

Please download PADI Medical Statement form HERE (link) and review it. Any “YES” answer
requires Physician approval prior to any in-water activities.
How safe is scuba diving ?
Scuba diving is classified as an adventure activity so it does carry some risk but it’s generally a safe and low-risk sport. To minimize a risk it is important to get a proper diving education and follow the rules you learned in your course. Divers with health issues are also at a higher risk, so if you have any medical issues, see your doctor to check if you can go diving.
Do I need medical certificate signed by my doctor ?
If you are younger then 45, you’ll be asked to sign a medical form (download it here) to participate in scuba diving activity. If you are +45, you need to have a medical certificate signed by your physician in the past 12 months.
If you have any health issues, your physician needs to confirm that you have no medical conditions incompatible with diving.
I woud like to go diving but I forgot my dive certification ?
If you are PADI certified we should be able to find you in PADI online database
but if you are certified at another agency it won’t be possible.
Newly certified divers mostly have digital certificate stored in their mobile phones.
You might use this tip: Take a photo of your certification and keep it in your phone,
just in case 😉
If you are PADI certified, there’s the option of buying PADI eCard, an electronic version of the plastic certification card.
Why do I need to sign medical statement ?
The statement consists of some basic questions about your health and by signing it you are confirming you have no medical issues incompatible with diving. Above all, this is for your own safety.
If you are planning scubadiving activities during your vacation we suggest you to review the PADI Medical Statement (download it HERE) and if you answer “Yes” to any question, it requires a medical approval or clearance signed by your physician that you are fit to dive.
If you need to review the medical form in your language, we would gladly send it to you.
